In the middle of these holiday posts...

… let’s talk for a minute about therapy. More specifically, I mentioned that I had signed up with Betterhelp, and a few of you messaged me asking my thoughts about it. So far, so good! I am matched up with a therapist that seems to be exactly who I needed right now. Part of that is because of the intake process where you can specify what issues you’d like help with, the type of therapist you would like, and add a short paragraph about where you are at in life. We’ve had 2 video sessions through the site, and several correspondences (also through the site). There is a place where you can “journal” and can choose to share or not share each entry with your therapist. I really like this feature because it means I can journal “in the moment” and share it — which in turn means we don’t spend the first 15 minutes of the session describing what happened, and also, in the past, I found I would frequently downplay an event if it had happened a few days prior to my appointment. It’s easy to say “…but it was fine” after some time has passed, so I like that my therapist has access to my real time mind set and actions. If anyone has interest in looking more seriously at the site, let me know in an email, I have a link that would give both us (I believe) a free week if you signed up.
